Judging in Mexico
In addition to showing and breeding our Labradors, I have also had the good fortune, as an AKC Judge of Labrador Retrievers, to judge dogs both here in the U.S. and abroad. This has afforded me the opprortunity to see and evaluate dogs from other breeders programs, and has allowed me to see some very outstanding Labradors, as well as evaluate their temperaments.
A good temperament (in my opinion) is the Hallmark of our breed. A Labrador Retriever should be a biddable dog, and a friend to all. We pay very close attention to the temperaments of our dogs and puppies. If a dog does not have a stellar temperament, it does not stay in our breeding program.
That said, we also like a Labrador that is as handsome (or pretty) as he is sweet. Our line has always been known for their beautiful heads, large bone and good double coats. Yes, we breed for the show ring, but our dogs can also hunt. We are proud to say that Wiscoy Labradors has produced one the few Champion Master Hunters in the breed. A GCH.JH and our youngest JH (at just 9 months of age) Wiscoys Carnival. In addition to the working titles, we have also owned/or bred 2 BOB Winners at the LRC of the Potomac Spring Specialty as well as winning the Stud Dog Class on two different occasions. Yes, they are pretty AND can work!
We are definately not a large kennel operation, This has always been more of a lifelong hobby for me. Out of the litters that I do breed, I keep one or two puppies for myself, and the remainder are placed into loving pet homes with AKC Limited Registrations. We hope you enjoy browsing our Website, you will find pictures, pedigrees and clearances on all the dogs, and if you have any questions about the dogs, or up coming litter information, please telephone me between the hours of 9am and 7 pm, and I will be happy to answer your questions.
